Xeomin® for Wrinkle Reduction and Hyperhidrosis

Xeomin® has recently been approved as a new botulism toxin for wrinkle relaxation. It is approved for use in 20 countries. Like other drugs in this category, Xeomin works by paralyzing wrinkles. It blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, the targeted muscle cannot contract.

It takes about 1 week to see the full effects of Xeomin® and the results last from three to six months. It is manufactured by Merz Aesthetics, the maker of the facial filler Radiesse.

XEOMIN® is a BOTOX® Cosmetic alternative designed to temporarily treat wrinkles and glabellar (frown) lines between the eyebrows, as well as to control excessive underarm sweating. XEOMIN® provides results comparable to BOTOX® Cosmetic and is slightly less expensive. The treatment also contains a lower protein load, which can be helpful for patients who may have developed antibodies against other products or who may have an allergic response to either BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®.
